Transportation Policy Board

The Whatcom Transportation Policy Board (WTPB) provides oversight for the work WCOG does both as the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization and as the state designated Regional Transportation Planning Organization (more information about these roles can be found here). In addition to governing the metropolitan and regional transportation planning processes, the WTPB is charged with allocating the combination of federal, state and local funds to the numerous projects contained in the Transportation Improvement Program. The WTPB may also request WCOG staff to perform analyses or other research to assist them in understanding the often complex issues they are called on to address.
