The Whatcom region’s long-range transportation plan
As both the state-designated regional transportation planning organization (RTPO) and the federally-designated metropolitan planning organization (MPO), WCOG is responsible for developing and maintaining a long-range regional and metropolitan transportation plan. Because both plans call for a continuous, cooperative and comprehensive process, WCOG combines both into a single regional and metropolitan transportation plan (R/MTP) to ensure that the strategies developed will serve the entire region. The current plan – Way to Go, Whatcom was adopted in 2022 and is available as a separate website: www.waytogowhatcom.org.
